A stunning run up the highest peak of the Tighardine mountain ridgeline. This moroccan trail run takes you from the plains up a sustained slope all the way to the top of this range of hills. Views from the summit stretch as far as Marrakech, the barrage of Lalla Takerkoust, and the Tizi n Test pass. The Toubkal massif looms invitingly to the east and is an unforgettable sight if there is snow on the peaks.
From the village of Amghras follow the 4×4 track up the dry riverbed to the village of Tizgui. Zigzag up through the narrow village streets to meet the mule track which runs just above the top line of houses.
Follow this track as it winds its way through forested hillside until you reach the ridge. The path follows the ridge for a while, crossing a beautiful plateau, before bearing off to the right hand side of the ridge line. Keep on the obvious mule track all the way to an open area with three obvious sheepfolds.
From the sheepfolds there is no obvious track but the summit is apparent to the right. Make your way up through the scrub. This can be scratchy and painful on the legs. The final climb to the summit can be a bit steep so scramble with your hands.
Return via the same route.
